Muladhara root chakra

Root Chakra | Muladhara

The Energy System begins at the base of the spine, home of the base or root chakra. As a crucial building block, the base chakra relates to the Earth element and represents our bodies, our health, our survival, our material and monetary existence, and our ability to focus and manifest our needs.

Visualised as a deep, vibrant red the base chakra’s meaning is root support where an imbalance is likely to manifest physically in the legs, feet, bones and large intestine if you’re not grounded. Challenges in these areas commonly induce feelings of fear, which in turn has an effect on the adrenal glands.

How to balance Muladhara: Chant ‘Lam’, do bridge pose (Setubhandasana) and Locust (Shalabhasana), carry or wear ruby, garnet or hematite crystals, rock red outfits, eat foods high in protein and walk barefoot in nature as often as possible. Choose Hatha yoga as a grounding practice and ignite your sense of smell by burning or diffusing Cedarwood and/or Patchouli Young Living essential oils.
